I am excited to have you get to know blogger buddy/cheerleader and my friend Kari Mullen. Kari is all over social media spreading her expertise and helping bloggers, like me network and be successful. I cannot thank you enough for your support, Kari! Take a look at my interview below and just how Kari is making moves!
Kari’s blog Family By Choice is about her blended family, by way of remarriage. They have spent years growing and learning about themselves and each other through good and bad times. With a blog they can share and learn from others, as they are always looking to do and be better. Kari is also a blogger encourager, she is half of Blogger Vue, a blog “For Bloggers, By Bloggers” with @RealMomBlogCom on Twitter and she runs Blog Love from her blog featuring and supporting other bloggers. Kari also works with @FierceBloggers to host a weekly blogger chat on Twitter. #FBLoveChat that allows participants to learn and socialize with each other.
Sharon: What has been your most satisfying moment as a blogger?
Kari: The most satisfying moment is when a fellow blogger chooses to follow me or is interested in working with me and acknowledges an impact I have made on them.
Sharon: How did you decide to blog?
Kari: I did not come about this intentionally. I really just stumbled upon it while trying to give life and adulting advice to my daughter.
Sharon: How do you generate new ideas or goals?
Kari: This may sound crazy, but in my sleep. I find the quiet and stillness in those hours of sleep, my mind is at its most creative. During the day, we have so much we need to focus on.
Sharon: What are your top three skills?
Kari: Research/development, data entry and marketing
Sharon: How long do you stick with an idea or product before giving up?
Kari: This may be an unpopular answer, but in some capacity, I will keep an idea active until I have seen no further potential. It just may not be what I will prioritize and work on at the same level of consideration it once had. Sharon: Well said!
Sharon: Describe/outline your typical day?
Kari: Coffee, breakfast, responding to emails, creating new content, working with a partner on joint ventures, engaging with followers on different platforms while mixing in being a wife and mother.
Sharon: What motivates you?
Kari: My family motivates me every day first and foremost. I am also motivated by wanting to create something that is uniquely mine.
Sharon: How has being an entrepreneur / blogger affected your life and/or family life?
Kari: Being an entrepreneur and blogger are very similar things I have found. When you are an entrepreneur, every decision and consequence is on you for your livelihood. The same is true with a blogger. You may have a flexible schedule with both, but if you are not putting in the time and doing the right tasks, you will not have the results that you are looking for. In my case, I enjoy both and hope that both will help create a wonderful lifestyle.
Sharon: What is your greatest fear and how do you manage fear?
Kari: My greatest fear is that my family and I do not have a stable life, healthwise and financial. I manage that fear with my faith!
Sharon: What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve made and what have you learned from them?
Kari: My biggest mistake when I was younger was taking a leap without knowing as much information and doing my research to be prepared. Since then I am much better at doing this, but the interesting thing is, that slowing down your excitement to do things, actually hurts us as we get older because we usually will find a reason to talk ourselves out of our dreams and goals or delay them too long! Sharon: So true!
